Talents & Expertise

Belgium is facing a significant labour shortage, with 11% of labour demand unmet in 2023. Furthermore, the gap between supply and demand continues to widen, as it is projected that 25% of labour demand, particularly in technological fields, will go unmet by 2027.

In this context, it is important that the water sector is able to identify and quantify the specific skills and training needs of companies, in order to foster the emergence of dedicated training programmes and strengthen the sector’s attractiveness for students.

There is a growing need to train experts to develop innovative water management technologies and techniques to address the many challenges in the water field. Addressing these challenges requires a multidisciplinary approach, involving experts in many diverse fields such as water engineering, hydrology, environmental sciences, water resource management, water treatment process expertise, agronomy, policy, law and more.
