More information
The 42-month European IN.SPIRE project (INverter Systems for Power Integration and Resilient Energy Systems) brings together a consortium of 13 leading industrial and academic partners, including CE+T, KU Leuven, VITO, Fraunhofer ISE and SMA.
Its aim is to reposition the photovoltaic inverter as a central, intelligent component of energy systems by developing two innovative platforms – low and medium voltage – capable of flexibly integrating PV generation, storage and the grid.
The project will combine technological innovations (power electronics, control, digitalisation) and advanced design tools to improve the efficiency, flexibility and resilience of installations. The solutions developed will be validated through demonstrators in real-world conditions, supplemented by laboratory and hardware-in-the-loop testing, in order to achieve near-market prototypes (TRL 6–7).
IN.SPIRE will thus help to accelerate the secure and efficient integration of photovoltaics in Europe, in line with energy transition objectives.
