TERRA (Teaching and Research Centre) is a research and education centre of the University of Liège, hosted by Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech. Its mission is to develop research in biological engineering applied to agronomy, biotechnology and environmental sciences. The centre brings together interdisciplinary expertise covering agricultural, food, environmental and forestry systems.

TERRA’s activities are organised around several complementary research areas. The centre studies the interactions between environmental factors and terrestrial ecosystems, designs innovative food and bioresource solutions, develops knowledge on environmentally responsible agricultural production and improves understanding of the sustainable management of temperate and tropical forest ecosystems.

Through its scientific work, TERRA contributes to the development of bioprocesses, innovative bioproducts, sustainable agricultural practices, biological resource valorisation and ecosystem management solutions. In this way, it supports the scientific foundations required for environmental and bioeconomy transitions.
