Centexbel is the Scientific and Technical Centre of the Belgian Textile Industry and a leading innovation actor in the fields of textiles, plastics and advanced materials. Its mission is to strengthen industrial competitiveness by supporting the development of innovative products, processes and technologies.

The organisation provides a broad range of services including research and development, prototyping, laboratory testing, material analysis, technological assistance, consultancy, standardisation and product certification. Its specialised laboratories and pilot facilities support companies throughout the innovation process, from concept development to market deployment.

Centexbel’s research activities focus on bio-based and renewable materials, ecodesign, recycling, the use of recycled content, composites, polymers, coatings, smart textiles and high-performance materials. Through these activities, the centre contributes to the transition towards a more sustainable and circular economy while fostering industrial innovation.

Centexbel also plays an important role in knowledge dissemination through training activities, publications, seminars and collaborative projects at both Belgian and European levels.
