Hydrogéologie et Géologie de l'Environnement - ULiège
The activities developed within the “Hydrogéologie et Géologie de l’Environnement” unit are primarily dedicated to the identification, characterization, and assessment (of risks) both quantitatively and qualitatively of water resources and soils.

The activities carried out within the "Hydrogéologie et Géologie de l'Environnemen" unit are primarily dedicated to the identification, characterization, and evaluation, both quantitatively and qualitatively, of water resources in the face of various pressures (such as droughts and climate change, punctual and diffuse pollution). The hydrogeological properties of aquifers as well as less permeable environments are studied at different scales for the calculation and modeling of groundwater flow and contaminant transport. Applications in the field of Environmental Geology, impact studies, and predictive studies are numerous.
Research topics include:
Energy and groundwater
Characterization and modeling of groundwater
'Aquifer-River' interactions
Mapping: vulnerability and protection of aquifers
Contamination of soils and groundwater
Transport of contaminants in saturated water environments
Discrimination of sources of groundwater pollution (e.g., agricultural vs urban)
North-South cooperation
Management of hydrogeological data (including urban hydrogeology)
