The Aero-Thermo-Mechanics Department, a part of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), is composed of four professors, about 25 researchers (Engineers, PhD students and post-docs), 8 technicians and 2 secretaries. Under the direction of Professors Gérard DEGREZ and Patrick HENDRICK, the department is active in many Belgian and European research projects with strong national and international collaborations (VKI, Royal Military Academy of Belgium, Concordia and Mc Gill Universities, Centrale Paris, TU/e, Cenaero, ESA, Safran Group , MTU, etc.). Our research activities cover a wide range of fluid mechanics applications including lubrication for aero-engines and machine tools, CFD, UAV’s, renewable energy, heat exchangers, helicopters, space propulsion, N2/O2 separation, micro climate, etc.
